We do a lot of team building activities that develop different types of leadership skills. How long since you played with duplos? Our class divided up, boys against the girls with, each team having an equal amount of Duplo building blocks. Who can build the tallest structure?
They had to plan together. Come up with ideas and share them. Listen to others and consider their ideas. Build together. Fix problems, laugh and have fun together.
After time was called and the competition was over (the boys won by a smidgeon), the class regrouped and changed focus from competition to cooperation. As experienced builders and with twice as many Duplos they worked together to create the tallest structure possible.
They took time to do some serious planning and then they started building.
