Beanie Babies to Iraq

Our Beanie Baby project started earlier this semester when Katherine Hunt forwarded me an email from Chris Boston that said, "JB asked that I let all know of a request on his behalf that if anyone would chip in and get some Beenie babies and send them it would be greatly appreciated as he and the other soldiers pass them out to the small Iraqi children." Thus a service project was born.
These are the first Beanie Babies that were donated. We sent them and a few others, a total of 15, in our first box to JB.

Our second shipment was somewhat bigger, 22 in all.

Things exploded when Zeke Campfield, a Lawton Constitution reporter, wrote an article about JB and how he got started giving Beanie Babies to children in Iraq. It was an excellent article that ended with Beanie Baby donation information. The Beanie Babies poured in.

Here are the first few hundred Beanie Babies that were brought or sent to the school library.
